Qingyun Duan is a professor of hydrology and water resources at Beijing Normal University (BNU) in China. Prior to his current position, he worked at NOAA Hydrology Laboratory from 1991 to 2003 and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 2004 to 2009. His research interests include: hydrology and water resources management, hydrological model development and calibration, hydrometeorological ensemble forecasting, and uncertainty quantification for large complex system models. He is the developer of several operational hydrological models used in US National Weather Service. His recent work includes the development of uncertainty quantification software platform for large complex system models – Uncertainty Quantification Python Laboratory (UQ-PyL), and the BNU Hydrological Ensemble Prediction System (BNU-HEPS). He is a recipient of Chinese “One-Thousand Talents Program” award, a Fellow of American Geophysical Union and American Meteorological Society. He is invited to present the Distinguished Lecture in Hydrological Science Section at the 2018 Asian Oceania Geophysics Society Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii.
