Experts in Environmental water, Professor of Peking University. Born in August 1962 in shanyin county, shanxi, native place shanyin. He graduated from wuhan institute of water conservancy and electric power in 1982 and obtained his master's degree and doctor's degree in tsinghua university in 1985 and 1989.

Mainly engaged in the river basin water and sediment movement theory, water pollution control and river comprehensive governance research. The vertical distribution formula of suspended sediment in turbulent flow with a wide range of applications is presented. Aiming at the problem of controlling nitrogen pollution sources in rivers, a series of efficient microbial strains with special denitrification function were found, and a one-step denitrification process was developed to realize simultaneous removal of ammonia nitrogen and nitrous nitrogen under a single aerobic condition. A new understanding of water and sediment disaster, river functional cut-off, and multi-material fluxes in the river basin is proposed, which provides key technologies for multi-functional regulation and ecological and environmental protection of the river. He has won the second prize of national technological invention, the second prize of national scientific and technological progress and the first prize of the ministry of education.
